Common causes of tyre damage in the UAE

Most of the tyres we replace at night never reached the end of their tread. Heat, pressure and age are usually the story.

  1. Heat

Road surfaces reach 65–70°C in July. Rubber hardens and cracks faster, and an under-inflated tyre runs hotter until it lets go.

  2. Low pressure

Running 20% under pressure increases sidewall flex and internal heat. It's the main cause of highway blowouts.

  3. Age

A six-year-old tyre can look new and still have lost its flexibility. Check the DOT code: the last four digits are week and year.

  4. Nails and site debris

Communities still under construction — Dubai South, Al Furjan — are full of screws and nails. Most are repairable if they're in the tread.

  5. Out of alignment

One speed bump or kerb taken badly can knock alignment out. The inner edge then wears through in a few thousand km.

  6. Overloading

Family cars packed for a road trip and work pickups easily exceed the load index, so the tyre overheats and degrades.

How to protect your tyres

Habits that add a year to a set of tyres

  • Check pressure every two weeks, cold, in the morning
  • Park in shade or a basement through summer when you can
  • Ask for a DOT date under 12 months old when buying
  • Rotate tyres every 8,000–10,000 km
  • Air down to 15–18 psi for sand, then re-inflate before the highway
  • Don't ignore a shaking steering wheel — usually balancing or a bent rim

Run four Hiluxes for our company. They do the whole fleet in our yard after hours, so no vehicle is off the road during the day. Invoices with VAT come through on email the next morning.

Screw in my rear tyre on a Monday morning in the JLT basement. Sent a photo on WhatsApp, they quoted AED 100, came down to P2 and plugged it from the inside in about 20 minutes. Didn't miss my 9:30 call.

Needed 4 tyres for my Pajero before a trip to Hatta. They sent three options in different price levels, explained the load rating, and fitted Yokohama Geolandars outside my building. Balancing done on the van.

Flat on the school run. The technician fitted my spare, then came back the same evening with a new Michelin for my Range Rover and swapped it on the driveway. Paid with Tabby, which helped that month.

    ★★★★★ Tyre pressure check

Low pressure warning on my Model 3. They came to the Marina Gate car park, checked all four, found a slow leak near the shoulder and told me honestly it was safer to replace. No upselling.

Two punctures in a week from construction debris near my building. Both times they came within 30 minutes. The second time they showed me the nail before fixing it.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How fast can you reach me in Abu Dhabi?

Most calls on the island, Khalifa City, MBZ City, Yas and Saadiyat are reached in 35–50 minutes. Al Ain takes 60–75 minutes from the city team, and far Al Dhafra areas such as Ruwais are booked as scheduled visits.

Do you change tyres in Mussafah company yards?

Yes. Fleet and pickup tyres are a large part of our Abu Dhabi work. We fit after hours so vehicles are ready for the morning shift, and VAT invoices are sent on WhatsApp the next day.

What does tyre replacement cost in Abu Dhabi?

Fitting starts at AED 100 per visit. Tyres are priced by size and brand — a 205/55 R16 runs about AED 230–520 each, and Land Cruiser or Patrol sizes about AED 520–1,400 each. You get the full price on WhatsApp before we drive.

How much does mobile tyre replacement cost?

Fitting starts at AED 100 per visit and covers removal, mounting, balancing and a new valve. Tyres are priced by size and brand: a 205/55 R16 sedan tyre is roughly AED 220–500, a 265/65 R17 SUV tyre roughly AED 380–1,100. We send the full price on WhatsApp before the technician leaves.

How quickly can a technician arrive?

In Dubai and Sharjah city areas, usually 30–45 minutes. Abu Dhabi city takes 35–50 minutes. Outlying areas such as Hatta, Al Ain or Ruwais are booked for a fixed time instead.

Can a puncture be repaired instead of replacing the tyre?

Usually yes, if the hole is in the tread, smaller than about 6 mm, and the tyre was not driven far while flat. Sidewall cuts, shoulder damage and run-flats driven past their limit need replacing. The technician checks the inside of the tyre before deciding, and you pay for a repair only if a repair is safe.

Which tyre brands do you carry?

Michelin, Bridgestone, Continental, Pirelli, Goodyear, Yokohama, Hankook, Dunlop, Toyo, Falken, Kumho, BFGoodrich and value lines such as Triangle and Sailun. We quote two or three options at different prices for your size so you can choose.

How old are the tyres you fit?

We aim for a DOT date under 12 months and send a photo of the code with the quote. The last four digits are the week and year of manufacture — 1426 means week 14 of 2026. If a particular size only exists in older stock, we tell you before you agree.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Tabby and Tamara split the total into four interest-free payments. We also take cards and cash on site, and send a VAT invoice on WhatsApp.

Will you fit tyres I bought online?

Yes. Send us the delivery address and the tyre size, and we fit them wherever the car is. Fitting from AED 100 applies; we check the DOT date and look for shipping damage before mounting.

Is there a warranty?

New tyres carry the manufacturer's warranty against defects. Our fitting work is guaranteed for 30 days — if a valve leaks or a wheel needs re-balancing, we come back free.
