If you have just found a flat tyre in Dubai, the most important thing is to stop driving on it: even 1 to 2 km on a flat crushes the sidewall and turns a cheap repair into a new tyre. Our flat tyre repair Dubai service sends a technician to you 24 hours a day, usually within 30 to 45 minutes in city areas. On arrival he finds the cause, then gives you three options: repair the tyre on the spot, fit your spare, or fit a new tyre from van stock. The steps below walk through each decision in the order you will face it.
Step 1: decide whether the car is safe where it is
A car in a car park, a driveway or a quiet side street is safe to leave exactly where it is until the technician arrives. On a highway, the priority is getting yourself away from traffic, not the tyre.
If the flat happens on a fast road such as Al Khail Road or Sheikh Zayed Road, roll slowly onto the hard shoulder or the next exit, switch on hazard lights, place the warning triangle well behind the car, and wait behind the barrier with everyone out of the vehicle. If you are stuck in a live lane or feel unsafe, call 999 first, then message us.
Step 2: do not drive on it, even to a petrol station
Driving on a flat destroys the tyre within a kilometre or two, even at low speed. With no air holding it up, the sidewall folds under the rim on every turn of the wheel, the rubber heats up and grinds itself into black dust on the inside of the tyre.
Once that happens, the tyre cannot be repaired, however small the original nail hole was. Rolling a few metres to get out of a traffic lane is fine; driving to the nearest petrol station usually is not. The rim can also be scraped or bent on the edge, which adds to the bill.
Step 3: find out why the tyre went flat
The cause decides the fix, and the technician checks it before quoting anything. You can often spot the likely cause yourself while you wait.
- Nail or screw in the tread: usually repairable if the tyre was not driven flat
- Valve: a cracked rubber stem or loose core, fixed on the spot
- Rim damage: a bent lip from a kerb or pothole lets air escape at the bead
- Heat or age: an old tyre that split or lost its bead seal on a hot afternoon, which means a new tyre
Step 4: repair, spare or a new tyre from the van
Repair on the spot is the first choice when the hole is in the tread, under about 6 mm, and the inside of the tyre is undamaged. It is done with the tyre off the rim and sealed from inside, and it takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
Fitting your spare is the quick option when the tyre cannot be repaired and you would rather shop around for a replacement. A full-size spare can stay on, but a space-saver is typically limited to 80 km/h and short distances, so it is a ride to the workshop rather than a solution. Run-flats can usually cover about 80 km at up to 80 km/h after losing pressure, but check your car manual.
A new tyre from van stock is the third option. Send a photo of the sidewall size and we quote on WhatsApp before dispatch; for example a mid-range 265/65 R17 for a Prado runs about AED 480 to 650, and fitting starts from AED 100.
What to have ready before we arrive
The locking wheel-nut key is the item that most often slows a flat tyre job, so find it first. It is usually in the glovebox, the door pocket or the tray under the boot floor.
Then check where your spare lives. Sedans keep it under the boot floor, while many large SUVs such as the Land Cruiser, Patrol and Fortuner hang it under the rear of the car on a winch. Older Prados, the Pajero and the Jeep Wrangler carry it on the rear door. Many newer cars have no spare at all, only a sealant kit; if you have used the sealant, tell the technician, because the tyre must be cleaned out before a repair.
Three Dubai flats and how they usually go
A flat found in the morning in a villa driveway is the best case: the car has not moved, the tyre is usually repairable, and the technician can finish before the school run.
A flat on Al Khail Road is about safety first. Once you are on the hard shoulder or at the next exit, we come to you, fit the spare or a new tyre on the roadside, and leave the full repair for later if needed. A flat in a Dubai Mall car park is routine: share the parking zone and level, keep shopping, and the tyre is usually done when you return.
