What the tyre needs
| Common sizes | 185/65 R15, 195/65 R15, 205/55 R16, 215/55 R17, 225/45 R18, 235/45 R18 |
|---|---|
| Cold pressure | 30–36 psi |
| Load and speed | Most sedans need a load index of 88–98 and a speed rating of H (210 km/h) or V (240 km/h). Larger sedans on 18 inch wheels often specify 94W or 95V XL. Always match or exceed the figures on the door placard. |
| Replace every | Expect 40,000–60,000 km from a set on a front-wheel-drive sedan with regular rotation, and replace at around five years regardless of tread. Front tyres wear faster, so rotating every 8,000–10,000 km makes a real difference. |
| Price per tyre | AED 200 – AED 750 |
Recommended tyre types
- Touring tyres for comfort and long tread life
- Grand touring or comfort tyres for premium sedans
- Ultra-high performance tyres for sport trims on 18 inch wheels
- Low rolling resistance tyres for hybrids such as the Camry Hybrid

Tyre sizes on popular UAE sedans
Compact sedans such as the Nissan Sunny, Toyota Yaris sedan and MG5 mostly use 185/65 R15 or 195/65 R15, the cheapest tyre sizes to replace in the UAE. Mid-size sedans such as the Corolla, Elantra and Civic sit on 205/55 R16 or 215/55 R17 depending on the trim.
Larger sedans move up a size: the Camry, Altima, Accord and Sonata use 215/55 R17 or 235/45 R18, and the Lexus ES and Mercedes-Benz C-Class use 215/55 R17 to 225/45 R18, with some C-Class trims running wider tyres at the rear.
The trim level matters more than the model name. A Camry SE on 18 inch wheels takes a completely different tyre from a Camry LE on 17s, so always quote from the sidewall or the door placard rather than the model alone.
Load index and speed rating for sedans
Sedan tyres usually carry a load index between 88 (560 kg per tyre) and 98 (750 kg), and a speed rating of H, V or W. The car maker sets the minimum on the door placard, and a replacement must match or exceed it for both insurance and RTA testing purposes.
Fitting a lower speed rating to save money is a common mistake. A tyre rated T (190 km/h) on a car specified for V will cope at legal speeds, but its construction is softer and it runs hotter, which in UAE summer conditions shortens its life and raises the risk of failure on a long highway run.
- Corolla, Elantra, Civic: typically 91V or 94V
- Camry, Altima, Accord: typically 94V or 95W
- Lexus ES, C-Class: typically 94W or 95W XL
- XL (extra load) marked tyres are needed on some 18 inch fitments
Choosing sedan tyres for UAE heat and highways
A sedan in the UAE spends most of its life at 100–140 km/h on roads such as Sheikh Zayed Road, Emirates Road and the E11 to Abu Dhabi, with road surfaces above 60°C for several months a year. The tyre needs a compound that resists heat build-up and a construction that stays quiet at speed.
Premium touring tyres from Michelin, Bridgestone and Continental tend to keep their shape and grip longest under those conditions. Yokohama, Hankook and Kumho offer most of the comfort at a lower price. Value tyres from Zeetex or Nexen make sense for older sedans or owners driving under 10,000 km a year who will replace on age.
Road noise is a common complaint on concrete sections and grooved asphalt. If quietness matters, look at comfort-focused patterns and check the EU label noise figure, which many UAE-sold tyres carry.
Pressure, wear and rotation on sedans
Most sedans specify 32–35 psi cold, with some compact models at 30 psi and some 18 inch fitments at 36 psi. Run the placard figure; underinflation by even 4–5 psi wears the shoulders and raises fuel consumption noticeably on a daily highway commute.
Because nearly all mainstream sedans are front-wheel drive, the front tyres carry the engine weight and do the steering, braking and driving. Rotating every 8,000–10,000 km keeps the set even so that all four can be replaced together. Watch the inside edges of the front tyres for signs of misalignment after speed bump or kerb impacts.
Brands we recommend
- Michelin — Michelin is the safest long-term buy for most UAE drivers: it typically outlasts rivals by 10,000–15,000 km and holds its grip and shape well in 45–50°C summers.
- Bridgestone — Bridgestone is the world's largest tyre maker by revenue and a strong premium choice for UAE heat, especially on Toyota and Lexus vehicles that often leave the factory on Bridgestone.
- Continental — Continental makes the best wet-braking tyres of the major brands and some of the quietest, which suits European cars and anyone who drives the UAE's highways at night or in winter rain.
- Yokohama — Yokohama is a Japanese mid-to-upper brand best known in the UAE for its Geolandar 4x4 tyres, especially the Geolandar A/T G015 on Patrols and Land Cruisers.
- Hankook — Hankook is the strongest-value brand for most UAE drivers: its Ventus tyres come close to premium performance at AED 300–700 per tyre in 16–18 inch sizes, around 30–40% below Michelin.
- Kumho — Kumho is a Korean mid-range brand that gives decent grip and comfort at AED 250–580 per tyre in 16–18 inch sizes, roughly half the price of Michelin.
- Nexen — Nexen is a Korean value brand and one of the cheapest reputable options in the UAE, at AED 220–520 per tyre in 16–18 inch sizes.
- Zeetex — Zeetex is a value tyre brand owned by ZAFCO, a tyre trading company founded in Dubai in 1993, and it is one of the cheapest well-known brands in the UAE at about AED 160–450 per tyre in 15–18 inch sizes.
