Choosing a tyre shop in Abu Dhabi usually means a trip to Mussafah, and from Saadiyat, Yas or Al Reem that round trip plus the wait can take four hours. 800 UAE Tyres brings the tyre shop to your villa, building or office anywhere in Abu Dhabi city and its suburbs, 24 hours a day, with fitting from AED 100 and tyres quoted on WhatsApp per brand and size. We handle heavy SUVs on site, advise on A/T versus H/T for desert weekends, and use our partner workshop in Mussafah only when a job needs an alignment rig.
Why a trip to a Mussafah tyre shop in Abu Dhabi can eat half a day
Abu Dhabi is spread out, and most tyre shops sit in Mussafah, south of the island across Al Maqta and Musaffah bridges. From Saadiyat or Yas Island that is roughly 35–45 km each way, from Al Reem around 30 km, and even Khalifa City or Al Raha residents face a 20-minute drive before joining the queue at the tyre lanes.
Add the wait on a Friday or Saturday, the time it takes to compare prices between shops, and the drive home, and a simple tyre change becomes a half-day errand in 45°C heat. Our technicians cover the island, Al Reem, Saadiyat, Yas, Al Raha, Khalifa City, Mohammed Bin Zayed City and Al Reef, and usually reach you within about an hour. A set of four on a saloon takes about 45 minutes once we arrive; a large SUV takes closer to an hour.
Tyres for Land Cruiser, Patrol and Lexus LX owners
Big SUVs make up a large part of our Abu Dhabi work, and the common sizes are 275/60 R20 and 285/50 R20 for the Land Cruiser 300, Nissan Patrol and Lexus LX, plus 265/65 R17 for the Prado and older Land Cruiser trims. In 2026, a 20-inch SUV tyre costs about AED 450–600 in a value brand, AED 650–900 mid-range, and AED 950–1,400 for premium names like Bridgestone, Michelin or Goodyear. A 265/65 R17 sits at about AED 350–450, AED 480–650 and AED 700–950 across the same three tiers.
Weight matters on these cars. A loaded Patrol or LX is close to 3 tonnes, so the replacement tyre must match or exceed the load index on the door placard, and the speed rating should not drop below the original. We bring a heavy-duty trolley jack rated for full-size SUVs, and we torque wheel nuts to the Toyota or Nissan specification rather than leaving them on impact-gun tightness.
A/T or H/T: picking tyres for Liwa and Al Khatim weekends
Highway-terrain (H/T) tyres are the right choice if your SUV spends more than about 90% of its life on tarmac, and all-terrain (A/T) tyres earn their place only if you are in the sand most weekends. Many Abu Dhabi owners head to the Liwa dunes or the Al Khatim area in winter, and the honest trade-off looks like this:
Whichever you fit, dune driving means airing down to about 15–18 psi, and re-inflating to the placard figure before you rejoin E45 or E11. Driving home at 120 km/h on soft pressures overheats the sidewall in minutes. Our technicians carry a compressor and can check and reset all four tyres and the spare after a desert weekend.
- H/T: quieter on E10 and E11, longer tread life, lower rolling resistance, and adequate in sand when pressures are dropped correctly.
- A/T: tougher sidewalls against sharp stones on gravel tracks and better bite in soft sand, but more road noise and faster wear on hot tarmac.
- A/T tyres in 275/60 R20 or 285/50 R20 usually cost a little more than the H/T equivalent from the same brand.
- If you only go out to the desert two or three times a year, a quality H/T and correct airing down is usually enough.
Long summer runs on E10, E11 and E12
The biggest tyre risk for Abu Dhabi drivers is sustained highway speed on 65°C tarmac with pressures set wrong. The 140 km run to Dubai on E11, the E10 towards the airport and Al Shahama, and the E12 linking Saadiyat, Yas and Al Raha all put long, continuous heat into the tread.
Check pressures in the morning before the tyres are warm, because a reading taken at noon after a drive can sit 3–4 psi higher and mislead you. Look for bulges on the sidewall after kerb contact, cracking between tread blocks, and any tyre that is five or more years past its DOT date, even if the tread looks deep. If you have a long trip planned, we can check pressures and condition at your door before you leave, with a tyre pressure check from AED 100.
When we use the Mussafah partner workshop
Alignment, rim straightening and suspension checks go to our partner workshop in Mussafah, because they need a proper rig and a lift. Desert driving and the speed bumps in Khalifa City and MBZ both knock alignment out over time, and an SUV with toe out of specification can wear the inner edge of a new AED 900 tyre in a few thousand kilometres.
When we fit tyres and see uneven wear on the old set, we say so and offer a workshop slot, usually on a weekday morning when Mussafah is quieter. Fitting, balancing, puncture repair and valve or TPMS work stay at your address. Payment is by card, cash, Tabby or Tamara in 4 instalments.
