About Cooper
Cooper's roots go back to 1914 in Akron, Ohio, and the company settled in Findlay, Ohio, where it remained headquartered for over a century as Cooper Tire & Rubber. It grew as an independent replacement-market brand in North America, known for SUV and light-truck tyres with long wear, and opened plants in the UK, Serbia, Mexico and China. In 2021 Goodyear acquired Cooper, which gave the brand access to Goodyear's research and distribution network while keeping Cooper's own product line. In the Middle East, Cooper is now positioned as a value-oriented alternative to the big premium names for 4x4s.

Performance
On tarmac, Cooper's Discoverer AT3 4S is one of the quietest and most comfortable all-terrain tyres sold in the UAE, with steady straight-line behaviour at 120 km/h on the E11 and E611. Dry grip is strong; wet grip is acceptable but not as sharp as the newer BFGoodrich KO3. In sand the AT3 4S works well when aired down, while the AT3 XLT, with its heavier light-truck construction, is better suited to fully loaded pickups and rocky terrain. The Discoverer STT Pro is a true mud tyre for enthusiasts and should not be bought for commuting.
Durability and tread life
Cooper is known for wear. A Discoverer AT3 4S on a Land Cruiser or Prado that is rotated every 8,000–10,000 km commonly reaches 65,000–80,000 km in UAE use, and highway-focused models can exceed that on mostly-tarmac driving. The rubber resists chunking on gravel, though very hot sand at midday will still wear any all-terrain faster, so keep dune runs at moderate speed. As with all tyres in the Gulf, plan to replace them about 5 years after the DOT manufacture date.
Cooper in UAE conditions
Cooper tyres are available in the UAE through specialist 4x4 tyre dealers and online retailers, mostly in 16–20 inch SUV and pickup sizes such as 265/70 R16, 285/70 R17 and 275/55 R20. Some stock is imported from the US or UK, so ask for the DOT date: anything older than about 2 years at fitting is not worth accepting. Cooper's light-truck (LT) sizes run at higher pressures, so follow the load table rather than the car's placard if you switch from a P-metric tyre.
