About Yokohama
The Yokohama Rubber Company was founded in 1917 as a joint venture between Yokohama Cable Manufacturing and the American B.F. Goodrich company. It launched the Advan performance brand in 1978 and has supplied tyres to many Japanese and European carmakers. In 2016 Yokohama bought Alliance Tire Group, a maker of agricultural and off-highway tyres, and it remains an independent company listed in Tokyo.

Performance
Yokohama's road tyres are comfortable and refined, with the Advan Sport V107 offering precise steering close to European sports tyres. On the 4x4 side the Geolandar A/T G015 is the brand's standout: quiet on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and capable in soft sand at reduced pressure, which is why many Patrol and Land Cruiser owners in the UAE choose it. Wet grip on the BluEarth range is acceptable but behind Continental and Michelin.
Durability and tread life
Expect 35,000–45,000 km from BluEarth tyres on a family sedan, 25,000–35,000 km from the Advan Sport V107 and 45,000–60,000 km from Geolandar A/T G015 or H/T G056 tyres on a large 4x4 driven mainly on roads. The G015 has a strong casing that resists chipping on gravel tracks. Heavy dune use shortens life because the tread blocks wear faster on sand at low pressure, so rotate every 8,000–10,000 km if you go off-road often.
Yokohama in UAE conditions
Yokohama tyres in the UAE come mainly from Japan, Thailand and the Philippines. Japan-made Geolandar tyres are popular with off-road clubs and usually cost a little more. Check the DOT code before fitting: 3825 means week 38 of 2025. For dune driving, the G015 works well at 15–18 psi; drive slowly until you re-inflate to 32–36 psi at the tarmac, and check for sand trapped between the bead and rim if the tyre keeps losing air.
