Firestone tyres in the UAE

Firestone is an American tyre brand owned by Bridgestone since 1988, and in the UAE it is Bridgestone's lower-priced line at roughly AED 300–650 per tyre in 16–18 inch sizes. It suits drivers who want well-engineered, comfortable tyres with good tread life from a major manufacturer without paying full Bridgestone or Michelin prices.

About Firestone

Harvey Firestone founded the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio, in 1900, and the company became a major supplier to Ford's early mass-produced cars. Firestone tyres won the first Indianapolis 500 in 1911, and the brand still supplies the IndyCar Series today. Japan's Bridgestone bought Firestone in 1988, and since then Firestone has been developed alongside Bridgestone, sharing research centres and many factories. In the Middle East, Firestone is positioned as Bridgestone's value-for-money brand, with products tuned for comfort and wear rather than outright sportiness.

Strengths

  • Bridgestone engineering and quality control at a lower price
  • Comfortable, quiet touring tyres
  • Good tread life on sedans and SUVs
  • Balanced wet and dry grip for the price

Weaknesses

  • Smaller UAE range than Bridgestone, so some sizes are hard to find
  • Not a sporty brand; steering is soft on performance cars
  • Off-road range is less established than BFGoodrich or Cooper

Performance

Firestone's strongest point is balance. The Roadhawk 2 has performed well in independent European tests for wet braking among mid-range tyres, and on UAE roads it is calm, quiet and easy to drive. Dry grip is solid rather than sharp, which suits family sedans and crossovers. The Destination HP is a comfortable SUV highway tyre, the Destination A/T2 gives a capable all-terrain option for light desert use, and the Destination M/T2 is a robust mud tyre for rock trails. The Vanhawk 2 serves vans and minibuses with good load capacity.

Durability and tread life

A Firestone Roadhawk 2 on a Camry or Altima typically lasts 45,000–60,000 km in the UAE when rotated every 10,000 km. The Destination HP on SUVs commonly reaches 50,000–60,000 km, and the Destination A/T2 50,000–65,000 km depending on how much sand driving is done. Bridgestone's compounds resist heat ageing better than most value brands, but the standard advice still applies: inspect for cracking from year 4 and replace about 5 years from the DOT manufacture date.

Firestone in UAE conditions

Firestone is distributed in the UAE alongside Bridgestone, and popular sizes such as 205/55 R16, 215/60 R16, 225/45 R18, 265/65 R17 and 195 R15C for vans are generally available. It is a smart pick for sedan and family-SUV owners who would otherwise buy a value brand: the extra AED 60–120 per tyre usually returns more kilometres and shorter wet braking. Always confirm the DOT date and ask for nitrogen or air at the placard pressure. Mobile fitting is available 24 hours in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Screw in my rear tyre on a Monday morning in the JLT basement. Sent a photo on WhatsApp, they quoted AED 100, came down to P2 and plugged it from the inside in about 20 minutes. Didn't miss my 9:30 call.

Needed 4 tyres for my Pajero before a trip to Hatta. They sent three options in different price levels, explained the load rating, and fitted Yokohama Geolandars outside my building. Balancing done on the van.

    ★★★★★ Tyre change

Flat on the school run. The technician fitted my spare, then came back the same evening with a new Michelin for my Range Rover and swapped it on the driveway. Paid with Tabby, which helped that month.

Run four Hiluxes for our company. They do the whole fleet in our yard after hours, so no vehicle is off the road during the day. Invoices with VAT come through on email the next morning.

    ★★★★★ Tyre pressure check

Low pressure warning on my Model 3. They came to the Marina Gate car park, checked all four, found a slow leak near the shoulder and told me honestly it was safer to replace. No upselling.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is Firestone the same as Bridgestone?

Firestone is owned by Bridgestone and shares its research and many factories, but it is a separate, lower-priced brand. Firestone tyres usually cost 15–25% less than equivalent Bridgestone models in the UAE.

How much are Firestone tyres in Dubai?

Firestone Roadhawk 2 tyres in 16–17 inch sizes usually cost AED 300–480 each, and SUV sizes AED 380–850. We quote the exact price on WhatsApp and fit at your location from AED 100.

Are Firestone tyres good for a Toyota Camry in the UAE?

Yes. The Roadhawk 2 in 215/55 R17 or 235/45 R18 is a comfortable, long-lasting choice for a Camry, with good wet braking for winter rain. Expect around 45,000–60,000 km.

Do Firestone tyres handle the summer heat?

They handle UAE summer temperatures well when inflated correctly. Check pressures when the tyres are cold, ideally in the early morning, because readings can rise 3–5 psi after driving on 60°C roads.

Which Firestone tyre is best for a Prado?

Choose the Destination HP if the Prado stays on the road, and the Destination A/T2 if you drive on sand or gravel. Both come in the common 265/65 R17 and 265/60 R18 sizes.
