About Toyo
Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. was founded in Osaka, Japan, in 1945 and was renamed Toyo Tire Corporation in 2019. It built a strong reputation in North America and the Middle East for light-truck and 4x4 tyres, especially the Open Country range, and for the Proxes performance line. Toyo operates plants in Japan, the United States, Malaysia and Serbia, and remains an independent company listed in Tokyo.

Performance
Toyo's performance depends heavily on the range. The Proxes Sport offers good dry handling for sporty cars, while the Proxes CF2 is a quiet, comfortable sedan tyre. The Open Country A/T III is the brand's best-known product in the UAE: confident on sand at reduced pressure, strong on gravel and rocky wadi tracks, and still stable at 120 km/h. The trade-off is noise, which is higher than road-focused tyres, especially on the M/T.
Durability and tread life
Toyo 4x4 tyres are known for long life: an Open Country A/T III on a Patrol or Land Cruiser often lasts 50,000–65,000 km with regular rotation, and the Proxes ST III on a large SUV 40,000–50,000 km. Sedan tyres like the Proxes CF2 typically reach 40,000–45,000 km. The casings resist heat and cuts well, which helps on long summer drives through the Empty Quarter or to Liwa, but ageing still applies: replace at about 5 years from the DOT date.
Toyo in UAE conditions
Toyo tyres in the UAE are mostly made in Japan and Malaysia, with some US-made light-truck sizes for American pickups. Japan-made Open Country tyres are especially popular with Patrol owners and can sell out before the winter desert season. Check the DOT code: 4625 means week 46 of 2025. On sand, air down to 15–18 psi for A/T and 12–15 psi for M/T on heavy dunes, then re-inflate fully before the highway.
