Mercedes-Benz tyre tips
- Look for MO, MO1 or MOE on the sidewall: MO tyres are tuned for Mercedes, and MOE means a run-flat (extended mobility) version.
- AMG models usually run staggered setups, wider at the rear, so tyres cannot be rotated front to back.
- G-Class owners who drive in sand often switch to an all-terrain tyre; keep the original diameter to avoid drivetrain warnings.
- S-Class and E-Class cars fitted with run-flats from the factory have no spare wheel, so a puncture means a replacement tyre, not a roadside swap.
Common factory tyres on Mercedes-Benz: Michelin, Pirelli, Continental, Bridgestone, Goodyear.
Tyre brands that suit the Mercedes-Benz X-Class
- Michelin — AED 450–AED 1,050 per tyre
- Bridgestone — AED 400–AED 950 per tyre
- Pirelli — AED 450–AED 1,100 per tyre
- Continental — AED 420–AED 1,000 per tyre
- Yokohama — AED 330–AED 800 per tyre
When to replace the tyres
Most SUV tyres last 35,000–55,000 km in the UAE. Heavy SUVs wear tyres faster, especially if pressures are allowed to drop. Replace at about five years regardless of tread, and check the spare as well.
Compact SUVs typically need a load index of 100–104 with H or V rating. Large SUVs such as the Land Cruiser, Patrol and LX need 110–116, often with S, T or H rating on H/T and A/T tyres. Many European SUVs specify XL tyres. Never go below the placard load index on a heavy SUV.
