Land Rover tyre tips
- Range Rovers on 22 or 23 inch wheels are easy to damage on kerbs; a slightly taller tyre is not an option because of the wheel arch sensors.
- LR-marked tyres are tuned for the air suspension and Terrain Response system and are the safest like-for-like choice.
- Defender owners who drive in sand often fit all-terrain tyres in 255/65 R19 or 255/70 R18 on the smaller wheel options.
- Keep the air suspension in its normal height when tyres are changed; jacking at access height can damage components.
Common factory tyres on Land Rover: Pirelli, Continental, Goodyear, Michelin.

When to replace the tyres
Most SUV tyres last 35,000–55,000 km in the UAE. Heavy SUVs wear tyres faster, especially if pressures are allowed to drop. Replace at about five years regardless of tread, and check the spare as well.
Compact SUVs typically need a load index of 100–104 with H or V rating. Large SUVs such as the Land Cruiser, Patrol and LX need 110–116, often with S, T or H rating on H/T and A/T tyres. Many European SUVs specify XL tyres. Never go below the placard load index on a heavy SUV.
