BYD tyre tips
- BYD EVs are heavy; replacement tyres should be XL or EV-rated with at least the original load index.
- The Atto 3 uses 215/55 R18, a common size, so quieter mid-range tyres are easy to source.
- The Shark plug-in hybrid pick-up should use LT or high-load tyres when carrying weight.
Common factory tyres on BYD: Atlas, Continental, Giti, Linglong, Michelin.
Tyre brands that suit the BYD Atto 2

- Bridgestone — AED 400–AED 950 per tyre
- Pirelli — AED 450–AED 1,100 per tyre

When to replace the tyres
Most SUV tyres last 35,000–55,000 km in the UAE. Heavy SUVs wear tyres faster, especially if pressures are allowed to drop. Replace at about five years regardless of tread, and check the spare as well.
Compact SUVs typically need a load index of 100–104 with H or V rating. Large SUVs such as the Land Cruiser, Patrol and LX need 110–116, often with S, T or H rating on H/T and A/T tyres. Many European SUVs specify XL tyres. Never go below the placard load index on a heavy SUV.
