Audi tyre tips
- Quattro all-wheel-drive Audis need all four tyres within about 2 mm of tread depth of each other to protect the centre differential.
- AO-marked tyres are developed with Audi for that model; non-marked tyres fit but may feel different in steering.
- The Q7 and Q8 on 21 or 22 inch wheels are heavy; use an XL-rated tyre with the correct load index.
Common factory tyres on Audi: Continental, Pirelli, Michelin, Bridgestone, Hankook.
Tyre brands that suit the Audi TT RS
- Michelin — AED 450–AED 1,050 per tyre
- Pirelli — AED 450–AED 1,100 per tyre
- Continental — AED 420–AED 1,000 per tyre
- Bridgestone — AED 400–AED 950 per tyre
- Goodyear — AED 380–AED 900 per tyre
When to replace the tyres
Rear tyres on powerful rear-wheel-drive coupes often last only 15,000–25,000 km; fronts last longer, 25,000–35,000 km. Soft UHP compounds also age quickly in heat, so replace at four to five years even with tread remaining.
Coupes typically need a load index of 88–101 with XL construction on many fitments, and a speed rating of W (270 km/h) or Y (300 km/h). Front and rear sizes often differ, each with its own load and speed requirement. Some Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-AMG models specify maker-approved tyres marked N0, *, or MO.
